The Importance of Certified Internship Trainer Training for Hospitality & Tourism Employers.

As the world of education and business continues to evolve, the connection between academic institutions and the labor market becomes increasingly vital. One key area where this connection plays a crucial role is in the realm of internships, especially within the Hospitality and Tourism sectors. Companies that host trainees (stagiaires) have long been a vital part of providing real-world experience and helping shape the next generation of industry professionals. However, new developments are making it essential for employers to become certified in how they manage these internships.

Why Certification Matters

Yesterday, a meeting was held with PEL, a new platform sustained by the Minister of Education and Labor, which serves as a key bridge between education and the labor market. PEL is currently preparing trainers to guide employers in properly receiving trainees (stagiaires) by providing free training and certification programs (for now). Their goal is to enhance the quality of practical learning by equipping trainers with the necessary skills and knowledge to mentor students successfully. It’s crucial to note that without this certification, it will soon no longer be possible for companies to receive students for internships. Additionally, companies that have certified internship trainers in-house will be placed in the official databank of PEL and will be recognized as accredited training companies in Aruba.

What Does the Certified Internship Trainer Training Involve?

PEL is stepping up to help employers navigate these new requirements by preparing trainers who will guide them through the process of receiving trainees. The next training sessions are just around the corner, and there is still time to register.

There are two upcoming opportunities for certification:

  • April 3rd Training: This is a limited-session opportunity for those eager to get started on meeting the new requirements.

  • June 4th Training: If you’re unable to attend the April training, this session will be available to help you become certified and prepared for the upcoming changes.

These trainings are designed to provide employers with the skills and knowledge necessary to create an effective internship program, ensuring that students receive the best possible experience while working within your business.

Why Should Employers Get Certified?

  • Stay Compliant: As the new regulations come into effect, certification ensures that your company remains compliant and can continue receiving interns.

  • Enhance Internship Quality: With proper training, you can offer a more structured, supportive environment for students, which in turn enhances the quality of the internships you offer.

  • Contribute to Industry Development: By becoming certified, you contribute to the overall development of the Hospitality & Tourism sectors, ensuring that the industry attracts and nurtures top talent.

    Conclusion

As employers in the Hospitality & Tourism industries, we all play an important role in shaping the future of our sector. By ensuring that your company is ready to meet the new internship certification requirements, you’re helping students gain valuable experience while contributing to the long-term success of your business and the industry as a whole.

We encourage all employers to take this opportunity to become certified and continue fostering a strong connection between education and the labor market. Together, we can continue to elevate the standards of our industry and prepare the next generation of professionals.
